What's Next for GPHS Theatre?

HONK! Jr

Playing November 2025

at the GPHS Performing Arts Center

In the Fall we will be bringing to the stage: “Honk Jr.”

Grants Pass High School's Theatre Department presents their Fall Musical: “HONK! Jr” playing at the GPHS Performing Arts Center, Nov 14-23, 2025. We are excited to also welcome ten students from South Middle School into our cast as well!

“HONK! Jr” is a delightful, heartwarming musical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's “The Ugly Duckling." Ugly, an odd-looking duckling, faces ridicule from her siblings and others, and goes on an adventure of self-discovery. Along the way, she meets a cast of unique characters, outwits a wily cat, and finds that being different is not a bad thing, ultimately learning to love herself and discover her true identity as a graceful swan. The musical focuses on themes of diversity, rejection, self-acceptance, bravery, and kindness. It is a colorful and entertaining show on the shorter side, perfect for audiences of all ages!

The show will be directed and choreographed by Erica Bury, music-directed by Katie Jarvis Shomler, and produced by Tianna Eddy, supported by Julia Cuppy, Director of Theatre at GPHS.

Special Event: On Saturday, November 22nd we are hosting a “Family Day” event with games, crafts, and a petting zoo by Farm Life for families to enjoy prior to the show. This Special Event starts at 9:30am, followed by a Sensory-Friendly “HONK! Jr” Performance starting at 11:30am. The “Family Day” activities are free to those who purchase tickets to the November 22nd performance, but please bring cash for snacks and pony rides! Our “Sensory-Friendly” performance provides a comfortable viewing experience with reduced sound levels, a softly lit auditorium, and advance notice prior to any loud or surprising sounds.

Silent Sky

Playing March 2026

at the GPHS Performing Arts Center

In the Spring we will bring to the stage: “Silent Sky”

“Silent Sky” showcases the true story of a group of overlooked 20th-century female astronomers whose groundbreaking work changed the way we see the universe. The play centers on the story of Henrietta Leavitt, whose passion for discovery helped astronomy map the stars, even as she fought for recognition in a male-dominated world.

The show offers excellent opportunities for powerful, emotionally rich performances. Though the cast is small, we plan to double-cast this show and let the casts share the performances.

The show will be directed by Denise Baker and will run March 6-15, 2026.
