What's Next for GPHS Theatre?

CAVEMAN SHOWCASE

Playing December 3rd 2025

at the GPHS Performing Arts Center

Grants Pass High School’s talent show is finally getting its well-deserved glow up, The Caveman Showcase. The Showcase is being hosted by the GPHS Theatre Department and GPHS Leadership on December 3, 2025, in the Performing Arts Center. This event is both an opportunity for students to show off their unique talents and skills as well as a fundraiser for the 2025 GPHS Sparrow.

Caveman Showcase is a time for students to proudly show off their fun quirks and talents that make them individual and unique. Talents all the way from singing to burping the ABCs are welcome. The Caveman Showcase is an enhanced version of a yearly talent show that goes back at least a decade, showcasing the diversity and individualism in Grants Pass High School’s students.

The Caveman Showcase has always been run by the Student Leadership of GPHS, but this year, Student Leadership is partnering with the Theatre Department at GPHS to bring talent to its full potential. Traditionally, this event has been judged by teacher volunteers from GPHS; however, in the last few years, the winners have been picked through an online voting done by the student audience to promote fairness and keep the show exhilarating.

The Caveman Showcase is not only a way for students to connect to their peers and school spirit, but it is also a school-wide fundraiser for Sparrow Clubs USA. A Sparrow is a chosen individual from the area who needs financial aid to help pay for their medical bills for lifesaving medical intervention. This year’s Grants Pass High School's assigned Sparrow is Jesse.

Jesse is a 7-year-old boy who was raised by a single mother, Alexa, and was born with Down syndrome, VSD in his heart, and a couple of other medical challenges he battles every day. All funding will go to aid Jesse and his family with medical bills. This includes: ticket sales, concessions, raffle sales, and every other dollar profited from this event.

“Partnering with the GPHS Leadership Department to support this year’s Sparrow is truly an honor”, says Julia Cuppy the GPHS Director of Theatre. “Our entire school shows up to demonstrate how school spirit can make a positive change in our community. We hope we pack the house to support our sparrow with our care.“

Silent Sky

Playing March 2026

at the GPHS Performing Arts Center

In the Spring we will bring to the stage: “Silent Sky”

“Silent Sky” showcases the true story of a group of overlooked 20th-century female astronomers whose groundbreaking work changed the way we see the universe. The play centers on the story of Henrietta Leavitt, whose passion for discovery helped astronomy map the stars, even as she fought for recognition in a male-dominated world.

The show offers excellent opportunities for powerful, emotionally rich performances. Though the cast is small, we plan to double-cast this show and let the casts share the performances.

The show will be directed by Denise Baker and will run March 6-15, 2026.
